I bought this product 1yr ago, at that point I was using the earphones that came with my iPod but I tout the sound quality was bad so I invested in some Phillips SHE9500. I listen to a wide range of music so I think that I give a fair representation of the majority of the populous.
The good
Drowns out outside sounds- my music could be quieter meaning linger batty life for my IPod, this would also reduce the risk of hearing damage
Good base- these headphones had a good base when you take into account their size (they will never sound better than a pair of over ear headphones)
Adjustable- they come with rubber ear buds in 3 different sizes that will fit most ears. The rubber/silicon that is used in the ear buds is firm which means that sound quality and comfort is good it also means that they are durable.
Comfortable- I find that these headphones are suitable for long train journeys
The detachable wire means that it can be~ 120cm or 60cm long
They have lasted a year without any sound quality loss; after they have been cleaned
The bad
The ear buds have a habit of falling out I had to buy another set of ear buds.
The base can sometimes be overpowering if you are listening to certain types of music so I have turned the base down on my iPod
Very suprised! 
I got these little headphones from HMV for £15 and despite the haul of negative reviews here I'm suprised at how good the sound quality is. My general preference with headphones is the in-ear type as these are. So, far no problems and these certainly do deliver the quality you expect from Philips.
They are small, sleek and very comfortable in the ear and I find the medium ear buds are perfect for me. I also like the fact that are not sticking out unlike some other in-ear styles I've used. I am particularly fussy when it comes to headphones but so far I'm yet to find a fault with these.
These earphones also come with a small black storage pouch which is a useful addition. I have been using them to listen to my iPod classic and they add to the sound quality. Music clarity is much clearer and no-where near as muffled as my last pair of headphones which made my ears uncomfortable after a while.
Highly recommended. Don't listen to the negative reviews, these are good quality and value for money. Faultless and comfortable to use.
Great Earphones!
These earphones are very good especially for bass, being a drum and bass, dubstep addict. The sound quality is amazing and very clear. Reading a few of the other reviews the majority of them are bad, I cant think why?
Also they are very comfortable for me, cant go wrong with the price either!
The worst earphones ever. They give you a nasty headache to

But these are terrible earphones. I recomend buying sennheiser or JVC
I took these back to the shop after breaking in c 1 month and got a nice pair of JVC ones.
- Sound is high pitched tinny, like someone blowing a dog whistle in your ear. I still have earache from them. It is detailed. but very unpleasent ot listen to... If you own these try a pair of poundland earphones... you will notice even they sound better and less harsh.
- Chord is rubbery and cheap. Tangles very easily and seems to be designed so the break quickly. 1 month for me.
- Don't buy them! I have JVC HAFX55 now, plain looking and the same price, but SO MUCH better.
Everyones ears are not the same!
I have a pair of these in-ear phones and personally I love them. For the price they offer excellent sound and comfort (that's comfort to me). There has been a really mixed bag of reviews on these (and simular in-ear phones) my theory is that it is difficult to make a design which is perfect for everyone. As part of my job I do auricual (ear) acupuncture on substance misusers and therefore examine a lot of ears. Take a look at a few peoples ears - there are no two the same infact they can be very different.
How do you know if they'll be good for you - I suppose you don't but personally I've found them to be excellent.
